Our after school program
We also provide Mindfulness as an after school program. Based on our mindfulness for school curriculum and our regular Mindfulness Kids course, we can design a program personalized for your school. From 30-60 minute sessions .
The goal of bringing Mindfulness to children would be to prepare them for life. At school the focus is mainly on theoretic learning, but not always putting much thought into developing social and emotional skills. Through Mindfulness, children can learn in a playful way, skills such as cultivating empathy, managing (difficult) emotions and training their attention/concentration.
Just like us adults, life for children nowadays can be very busy & very active. They might be restless, easily distracted, have trouble sleeping or lack of confidence. Their heads can be full of thoughts or worries about their day. The ‘On Switch’ works fine so how can we (adults), help them to find the ‘ OFF Switch’ and allow them to strengthen their ability to be present, learn how to respond rather than react and generate compassion for themselves and others?
During our 8-week Mindfulness program children learn with guided mindfulness practices, stories, movement (yoga) and games that will help them develop Mindfulness skills. They learn in a playful way to become more aware of what is happening in the present moment, they learn how to cultivate greater self-awareness and greater awareness of others and the world, (the world inside and outside of us), with openness and interest to things as they are.
Focus, concentrate and observe better.
Be in contact with their bodies, feelings and emotions and know how to mindfully and ‘kind fully’ manage these.
Calm themselves down, relax more, and stress less, through their breathing.
Build their self confidence.
Be kinder to themselves and to others. As awareness of their own thoughts, emotions, and senses grows, their understanding of what other people are experiencing also grows.
